Faith

My passion for Bible study stems from a diverse background and a deep desire to know Truth.  I was once the skeptic arguing the validity of something so ancient... now I am the defender because I have dug... deep down... to learn the value of the timeless Truths we are privileged to hold in our hands.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching,
for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Shortly after I went into missions work, a couple of women God had given me to mentor asked me to lead them in a Bible study... I was stumped.  Without someone else scripting me in what to say: I was clueless.  How do you teach something so amazing?  How do you communicate what you absorb in your own quiet time?  The day I realized I didn't know how to TEACH something so critical to our faith, stands as a crisp reminder and passionate drive behind what happened next....

Since that fateful day, God opened the door for me to attend the School of Biblical Studies through YWAM.  I have also studied many books on styles of Bible study and attended training conferences in order to have a versatile understanding of HOW to implement a good study.  I'm still far from being an expert, but God has given me the Call and the Confidence to step forward and share what I learn.

Over the last few years I have begun to piece together mini studies... and some continuous ones. I am passionate about not just teaching God's Word, but also teaching others HOW to dig and teach for themselves.  My hope is, if anyone ever approaches us out-of-the-blue and says, "Can you do a Bible study with me," we can grab God's good book and have all we need at hand to jump in!

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect,
but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do:
forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

A Bible read-through is always a powerful adventure.  My favorite read-through plan is:

click on image to download PDF

If you do a read through and feel as though studying the Old Testament is 'boring', irrelevant or tiresome, remember Jesus' words:

 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;

I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Jesus is throughout the entire Bible, not just the New Testament.  Studying the Old Testament with this in mind reveals such amazing depth and rich (even applicable to today) meaning!

The Old Testament is Jesus concealed
The New Testament is Jesus revealed

Kind of puts an awesome spin on the O.T. passages when you read them!
