Ecclesiastical Ponderings


I studied Ecclesiastes today... all of Ecclesiastes today.  It is suspected to be written towards the end of Solomon's life as he looks retro-intro-spectfully at a life lived in wisdom but in folly.  To come to the end of himself and see where true Value lies... and to be called to share that Wisdom with others.

I pondered many of his verses today, scribbled deep-heart thoughts in my journal, yet the simple truth from 7:14 is what I felt best to share in the blog-roll.  Because the truth is... the good is always surrounded by the bad but one without the other just does not build the character and understanding which draws us closest to the righteousness we are called to strive for in life...

The end of the matter; all has been heard.  Fear God, and keep his commandments; for that is the whole duty of everyone.
Ecclesiastes 12:13

    Yes, sometimes we tend to forget this, don't we? It also reminds me of what Job told his wife as he battled his troubles. Visiting from Sunday Stillness.

      Yes... it is easy to think all of life should just be joy and fun but the fact is, we would never fully grasp our need for God if it never had its down sides. Thank you for visiting :-)

      God brought me to it with a broken and searching heart. I saw it in a new light last Sunday... I light of hope and encouragement. Thinking of Solomon, having wasted what should have been a GREAT life and then realizing it... I fell like I am taking advice from someone older and wiser, "Don't screw up like I did - treasure life, hope in a better day, and realize that there are ups and downs... you won't always be down." I understand what you mean... but I pray you may read it sometime and see hope for a new day and be encouraged... to everything there really is a season :-) Blessings to you...
